Hi everyone,

Here's the disclaimer upfront...

Yes, I have read the articles.
Yes, I have searched.

icon_wink.gif

Now that my laptop is road-trip ready again, thanks to the cheap car power adapter that Roger found, I experimented with the adaptation channels in the ASV today.

What was particularly interesting were parameters 2 (LL speed) and 5 (initial quantity), because I actually want a lower speed and a higher initial quantity. The car doesn't start on the first compression, whether it's cold or warm; it actually takes a second or so to start running. It's just a minor flaw, but I have my ambitions.

Ultimately, I let the LL (presumably a vehicle) in, because with the ASV (presumably a parking system), you can only go down to a height of 861, and even that requires some maneuvering – I have to fold down the dashboard beforehand.

The default starting value is 32768. You can increase it up to 33268, and I only tried decreasing it to 20000 (but without actually starting the process), because according to searches and articles, increasing it to values *larger* than the default can cause problems.

However, the effect is zero... neither the displayed initial amount (22) nor the starting behavior changes with the maximum value.

Here's the question: Has anyone actually tried this with the ASV (or even the ALH)? I found one or two threads in the search related to the ALH, but unfortunately, there was no feedback on whether it worked and what values were experimented with.

Best regards,

Jan.

Hi Jan,

Which login?

If I can distract my ASV GP01 colleague, I might try to adapt something from his Ibiza.

Hi Jan,

Since our ALH-Ibi always starts in the first compression stage, whether it's cold or warm, I haven't adjusted anything yet.

I experienced the common "starts cold immediately, but hesitates when warm" issue with the AFN.

Adjusting the initial fuel mixture upwards didn't result in any significant improvement in starting, but the engine did reach the low-speed operating range noticeably "rougher".

More effective was adjusting the pump to the "maximum early" setting according to the TDI Timing Checker, although this still didn't completely eliminate the sluggish warm start.

With the ALH, the pump is exactly in the middle of the target range, and as I said, it starts significantly better overall than the AFN... but don't ask me why icon_sad.gif.

Perhaps it's due to the smaller nozzles, which also provide better atomization when playing the organ. This could also explain the difference compared to the ASV (Air Spray Vaporizer).

@ Jan

If I'm already running out for you, then I won't bother looking up any technical articles icon_smile.gif.

I just wanted to double-check because you coded it so nicely, and I wasn't sure if it was the VW-specific secret code you used or not.

Let's see if I'm allowed to do anything on the sacred island of Ibiza.

Hi,

"@Ulf: I'll also check the timing at some point, but I think it's probably not too far off, because the engine is running perfectly fine and delivering its full power (or even a bit more)."

It's not really bothering me, and I also wanted to test what the start quantity adaptation actually brings.

"@Martin: No problem at all, that's why I included the result right away. If you need arguments for troubleshooting, and if his dashboard is also making a lot of noise at idle... then enter 32786 instead of 32768 on channel 2 (no login required)... those extra 18 RPM make a real difference."

Best regards,

Jan.

Hello Jan,

AnsonMany thanks for all the tips.

Best regards, Fritz.
