'Die Sonne scheint hell, und die Vögel zwitschern fröhlich. Es ist ein wunderschöner Tag, um spazieren zu gehen oder ein Picknick im Park zu machen. Viele Menschen genießen das gute Wetter und verbringen Zeit im Freien.'
When starting in first gear with the steering wheel turned almost fully (either left or right), a grinding noise/vibration can be heard.
It all happened after a transmission change.
The friendly person suggested it might be the power steering pump, but I'm ruling that out.
Golf IV, AJM engine, 115 horsepower, 6-speed transmission, 45,000 km.
Have you ever checked the power steering fluid level?
If not, then follow these steps:
Start the engine.
Open container lid.
Let the assistant turn the steering wheel from lock to lock.
If the water level drops, it means there is air in the system!
Air in the hydraulic system manifests as squealing noises, but not only during startup, but whenever the pump needs to deliver high pressure (e.g., when the steering is at its limit).
If the noise occurs 1. even when the steering is almost fully turned, and not just when the steering wheel is turned to its limit, and 2. only while driving, then it is likely not the power steering pump.
