"Who hasn't experienced it? During a customer service interaction, a defective driveshaft boot was identified."
The tire is completely worn out, and the joint is already making a cracking sound when accelerating with the wheels turned.
Can anyone recommend any affordable options? Or has anyone had any experience with these?
[Edit Admin] Hi Steffarn, bitte aus SEO Gründen keine EBucht-Direktlinks. Danke. [Edit]
At the very least, a 3-year warranty is being offered.
And it's correspondingly inexpensive compared to the original, which costs over 150 euros. B.Eng (FH) u. KFZ Meister

Hi.
I would only buy genuine parts. Sometimes, you can even get them for 20-30% off directly from the company. Often, it's cheaper to go that route than to buy aftermarket accessories.
I once bought control arms at an auction for my Golf 4. After one winter, the paint was completely gone due to rust. So, once again, it was low-quality. Most replacement parts simply aren't as high quality as original parts.
I hope I was able to help a little.

Are you sure, Stefarn, that you want to replace the entire joint right away?
They can withstand quite a bit, and they aren't subjected to critical stress when running straight.
It only becomes critical when you give full throttle with the wheels fully turned and there is no more lubricant present.
I remember my first car. It was a Golf 1 1.6D, manufactured in 1983.
Back then, I didn't know much about cars, and I couldn't tell a good one from a bad one when I bought it.
Therefore, it wasn't properly checked.
Once, I was driving up a steep, winding road and completely turned right.
It tore the left joint when he accelerated.
The joint was not only completely dry, but only ring fragments of the seal remained. There were 2-3 rubber rings, and that was it.
It's likely that the gasket had been defective for 100,000 kilometers.
Okay, so I think that if you buy a set of replacement cuffs, generously lubricate the joint, and reinstall it, you should be fine. As far as I know, the balls of the driveshaft joint are hard-chromed and should have held up well.

Hello Steffarn: 0.215 and Turbo, and cheap joint replacement - sorry, it sounds like yours is about to go (again)!
Please don't be offended, but I'm also a bit of an old geezer in my own way.
The original axle boots are also better. Gruß, der Teileklaus

Due to a relatively late-noticed sidewall tear (tire change), I also experience the problem in curves. You don't notice anything when driving straight. Nothing has changed in the last 20,000 km.
"Of course, a new seal with fresh grease was installed after the damage was noticed. But as long as nothing happens while driving straight, I don't plan to replace the joint. I'm curious to see how long this will last."

With an original joint, it won't necessarily make it faster! } In that case, engine tuning will achieve more.
"These are the joints from my A6. I bought the car knowing that the drive shafts were already making a clicking noise. So, I have no idea how long the joints have been defective. The previous owner also already replaced the joints."
It's already so loud that you think something is about to break apart right around the bend. So, there's definitely no way to add any more lubricant there.
}Due to a relatively late-noticed sidewall tear (tire change), I also experience the problem in curves. You don't notice anything when driving straight. Nothing has changed in the last 20,000 km.
Of course, after noticing the damage, a new seal with fresh grease was installed. But as long as nothing happens while driving straight, I don't think I'll replace the joint. I'm curious to see how long this will last.}
It also depends on how badly damaged they are. Normally, I would leave them in until they can't be used anymore. But if there are these supports for the 2 joints, costing around 70 euros, it might be worth considering.

I've been driving an A4 B5 AFN for about 30,000 km with joints from xbay. The price per piece was 70 Euros back then, so it was a higher-end economy class. After about 5,000 km, the ABS ring on one of them broke. Fortunately, the dealer replaced it free of charge (after I had replaced the sensor, because the ring didn't seem like a likely source of the problem to me).
Conclusion: They run smoothly and show no radial play. At higher speeds, I noticed a slight imbalance on the front axle, but I can't say for sure if it's coming from the joints. It's probably not the tires. When I had to replace a joint again (ABS), I noticed that the joints weren't beveled on the inside. When you pull them off, the retaining ring doesn't snap into the bevel, but instead slides with a lot of force into the gap between the shaft and the joint... which is very unpleasant. Otherwise, you can't remove them, as the ring is inaccessible.
This doesn't necessarily apply to every manufacturer (and probably not even to every batch).
My advice when installing affordable joints: Use original parts for everything except the joint itself. This includes the seal, retaining ring, etc. The included seals only lasted a maximum of 10,000 km for me.
