Are the hoods, including the insulation, 100% identical to those on models with an engine cover?
My gut feeling is: yes.
I will take another look at the documents. If they say something different, I will post a correction.

My quick search revealed that they simply omitted the covers.

Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation.

My more thorough search yields the same result.

Hello!

Unfortunately not, otherwise there wouldn't be any coverage at all.

The main reason is the attractive appearance for the average customer.
Side effect: Noise reduction and less dirt ingress.

If you really wanted to save money, there wouldn't even be a cover.
Then the diesel engine would still sound like an old VP-TDI.
It would also save fuel...

I haven't weighed the cover yet, but I think a thorough bowel evacuation before starting the journey will provide more acceleration than removing the cover. icon_cool.gif

If you had also saved on further development of the engine: yes.
But my ASZ engine in the Polo is significantly quieter when cold and without a cover, compared to the ALH engine in the Ibiza with a cover.

Squeezing out approximately 2 kg(!) before each trip not only requires more effort but also takes more time than removing the cover once. icon_razz.gif
