Hi.

The 170 hp TDI has the cheapest protective cover of all the TDIs offered by Volkswagen.
He also has the cheapest of all the 170 models.

His VW emblem is only embossed, and the spaces between the letters show the gray insulation material.

Interestingly, the logo is smooth, while the rest of the design is intended to give a cast metal impression.

It's even more interesting that the 06A 103 940 G fits perfectly for just 7 euros and already comes with an adhesive surface.

Da wird echt jeder Cent gespart ... icon_evil.gif

Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation.

Don't worry, Martin, I would have loved to get your cover and the 170 hp engine.

Just go for the high-quality option, even if it hurts your wallet.

Hi,

ich glaube, ich muss mal wieder meine versiffte Motorabdeckung fotografieren... Ob das ausreicht, damit Martin sich zwecks Modding auf den Weg macht? icon_smile.gif

"Ah, Ulf has the same crankcase ventilation system as I do... so it's also not heated at the ASZ... strangely enough, I have a loose connector lying around that probably should be for heating... Roger doesn't have one either... I thought maybe it was another cost-saving measure from the Dutch cars... but now I'm relieved."

To be honest, I don't really care about the engine cover either. What bothers me is the cheap undercarriage panel that shattered into a hundred pieces with even slight contact from a rabbit.

Hi!

I had the engine cover removed for a while, and I have to say that nothing changes except the noise level. That's why I put it back on.
'@Ulf) I think you're one of the few who enjoy that diesel engine noise icon_wink.gif'.

Best regards.

I can't really offer anything with the PPD system.

You really need to use a magnetic charging cable for that.

The difference between the 2.0 PD TDI (BMP) and the 2.0 PPD TDI (BMR) is quite significant.

. No: if electric vehicles (EVs) ran as smoothly as gasoline cars, I certainly wouldn't be upset about it.
I consider the engine's noise to be a minor and acceptable characteristic of what is otherwise a fantastic motor, and I don't want to suppress it excessively with heavy modifications (the keyword here being power-to-weight ratio).

Hi,

For the sake of completeness, it should be noted that this part may potentially be relevant for pedestrian safety in the event of an accident, and it is definitely advisable to clarify this before removing it.

The hood offers little resistance to a pedestrian impact, while the engine block is extremely rigid. The soft and deformable cover can potentially mitigate the consequences of accidents in certain crash scenarios.

Quote:

I'm just annoyed by the cheap version that sits under the car and shatters into a hundred pieces with even slight contact from a rabbit.

The one from Ibi seems more stable or flexible – it only has a crack, which happened after I had to wedge a lost lower panel of another car between the wheels at 170 km/h (braking or swerving was impossible, and that would have had serious consequences).

Best regards,

Jan.

Hi Jan,

One can see how seriously this topic is taken at Volkswagen by looking at, for example, the (newer) 1.6-liter gasoline engine in the Polo.

http://www.polo9n.info/gallery/3301_2_Motor.jpg

As long as these cowcatchers (those pipe structures attached to "off-road vehicles" with road approval) are not generally prohibited, even though they often extend to the height of a child's head, I can't really take the issue of "pedestrian injury prevention in crashes" seriously.
What would likely happen to a child's head if it were struck by a bare steel pipe with a diameter of 60 mm traveling at approximately 50 km/h and rigidly connected to a mass of 1.5-2 tons?

Hello Ulf,

I don't think we should compare apples and oranges. Neither I nor you can really discuss the pros and cons of crash bars. However, when I look at the photo, I notice that the gasoline engine is much lower in the engine compartment than the TDI. Perhaps it's only that small difference in height/lower profile because there are no PD elements), which would render a crash bar ineffective...

However, there's also the fact that even new 1.4 TDI engines in the Polo no longer have engine covers:

http://forum.polo9n.info/download.php?id=794&mode=view

And the 1.4 TDI should, in my opinion, extend as high into the engine compartment as the 1.9 does icon_rolleyes.gif icon_question.gif.

Okay... then I was just thinking out loud. Of course, the 1.4-liter engine is exactly as tall as the 1.9-liter engine.

@ Ulf

You could also recommend the blue VW logo for the Blue Polo... Because even there, they only have the curved design with a prominent VW. The part number 06A 103 940 G will fit perfectly icon_smile.gif.

Hi,

Are the hoods, including the insulation, 100% identical to those models with an engine cover?

Best regards,

Jan.
