Hi everyone,

I have a question. I drive a new Fiat Bravo 1.9 Multijet 16V. When pressing the clutch pedal while stationary, the engine noise gets louder. It sounds subjectively like knocking, which disappears when the clutch is fully engaged. When engaging the clutch while driving, you can hear a slight "rumbling" as the engine speed drops. The pedal feels light, and the clutch engagement is very smooth.

According to the workshop, it's a "normal" operating noise. Since I've only driven 11,500 km and the car is still under warranty, I'm not allowed to inspect it myself. I haven't been able to test another vehicle with the same engine yet.

Is that something to be ignored?

If this Fiat still has a clutch cable, it is possible that the noise could be transmitted from the cable to the pedal assembly if the cable is under tension. In that case, it would be considered normal.
