Wow, that would be fantastic! And who will teach me how to use the engine control unit (ECU)? Or can I take it to any tuner I know and have them program it? How does that work? Also, if I disconnect the socket, will it run normally with 110 horsepower?
Can you briefly explain to me how the process of "chipping" a car's engine control unit (ECU) works?
Best regards, Chris.
The control unit has definitely been purchased.

Okay, well, is there a trick for the speedometer in the Golf Mk3 to reprogram it yourself, or do I have to take it to a VW specialist with a VAG diagnostic tool? A colleague might have the software...
@ wiesel
Do you have any chip data sets (like the ones from Tuneline or something)? I'd really like to have a chip again, but not one that's too smoky.
"And does anyone know how to install a switch to turn the chip on and off? Or is that only possible with other methods?"
Sure, here's the translation:
"Thank you in advance."
best regards, chris

It's called adaptation and can be done either with VAG-COM / VCDS or at the .

Sure, I do, but this is Rainer's forum, and I won't interfere in his business.

While there are options available, I don't like any of them.
Best regards, Micha (currently using a temporary account).

Yes, this forum is really great. Without it, I wouldn't have a clue, but now things make sense.
Okay, so, through the base, I can freely exchange and test different datasets, for example... Is that correct? And could I also simply replace the two original datasets, and of course, the chips themselves? Or does that not work well?
best regards, chris...

Hello Chris,
both building blocks contain a dataset.
It is correct that you compare a dataset (e.g., the original one) against another one, to...
You can swap out the tuning data set to match your vehicle.
Best regards, Micha (whose account seems to be working again). Touran 5T1 / DFGA / TGV; Fabia 6Y5 / BNV / GGV

Okay, I sent you a private message on another account! Could you please reply to me?
Okay, so you would have an original dataset and a "chipped" dataset? Of course, I would need both. How many horsepower would it have with the "chipped" dataset? And would it rust?
I will definitely let you know as soon as everything is clarified regarding my questions, whether I'll take the control unit or not (I'm pretty sure I will), if you give me a good price for everything!
Best regards, Chris.
Have a good evening, everyone.

Okay, so I've got something new to share. I spoke with the previous owners of my car earlier today, and here's what I found out:
When the car was new, it immediately had a chip installed. This means the car has had a chip installed for the last 180,000 kilometers. Around 110,000 kilometers, the car had a turbocharger failure. It's not certain whether a new or a used turbocharger was installed. Russians would always modify cars to this extreme extent...
Okay, this is what I know so far.
My questions:
Since the car already has a chip, I wonder if it can continue to function normally?
"I noticed that the turbo is quite loud; it makes a whistling sound. You can hear it as soon as pressure builds up. You can even hear a slight whistle when you start the car. And when I let someone else drive the car and I'm watching, you can hear a loud sucking sound coming from the exhaust (it has a Remus exhaust on it, maybe that's why?)."
Is the whistling issue still a problem? The performance seems to be okay.
3.) When I fully accelerate (uphill, in 3rd gear), the boost pressure briefly rises to 1.2 bar, then drops back to 1 bar, and then stabilizes at 1.1 bar. Is this the so-called boost overshot? If so, is it a fault? And if it is, how can I fix it? You can also notice it because there's a slight hesitation in the acceleration, like a small turbo lag.
"Recently, I read the error codes from the engine control unit, and I found an intermittent error related to the temperature sensor (4-pin, located on the water flange at the front of the engine). I replaced the sensor, but the problem is still the same! When I monitor the sensor reading using the VAG diagnostic software, I see the temperature fluctuating between 40 and 70°C, even though the remote temperature display indicates that the engine is running at the correct temperature."
"It might be important to note that the sensor has a blue ring. Some people say it should have a yellow ring, but when I compare it to the VW part number, it matches! There was also a blue one in there before."
Question: Is this error critical, or should I just ignore it? Does it affect the performance? Sometimes, the glow plug light doesn't turn off. And when I start the car, the idle speed increases slightly and then goes back down... this happens a few times, and then suddenly everything is normal again.
Okay, I hope someone can answer my questions!
Thank you in advance. Best regards, Chris.
Okay, so I...
