Hello.

My car is making a clicking noise while the engine is running for the second time. I suspect it might be the lifters.

However, they were swapped twice. The first time, it was with 'old treasures' from the garage. The second time, it was with brand new ones from the friendly icon_wink.gif.

Suspected: Low oil pressure at the top of the engine. However, it was tested and consistently exceeded the minimum value.

Timing (according to VAG-COM) is correct. Oil and filters are new. I have tried both 15W40 and 5W40 full synthetic oil, and both have the same result.

The car doesn't get particularly hot. On the highway at 130 km/h, the temperature is around 100 degrees Celsius. The coolant is just below 90 degrees Celsius.
Fuel consumption is acceptable, no oil consumption..., no excessive smoke coming from the exhaust...

Could a dirty or defective MSW (Main Switching Unit) cause this error?
If the crankshaft bolt slowly 'loosens,' wouldn't the valve timing also completely shift out of its intended range?

A helpless TDI devotee icon_wink.gif.

Hi,

Possible early signs of connecting rod bearing damage?

Taking the oil pan off and replacing it is quick when it's installed transversely.

Best regards, Michael.

I had a similar problem with my injectors at approximately 250,000 kilometers. There was a noticeable clicking sound, and even after replacing the lifters, it was only slightly better... it was worst during cold starts.

I then replaced the entire cylinder head..., and it's been quiet ever since, now with over 125,000 km. The old one had no visible abnormalities other than the known cracks between the valve and the exhaust valve seat... icon_smile.gif

Crankshaft bearing, 4-cylinder.

It was completely missing after I checked again, now that I've noticed a significantly increased noise level.
Rest in peace. Thank you for your answers.
