Hello.

Okay, I checked my Golf, and it constantly adjusts whenever the load changes.

Hac. none.

Achso der Golf hat 2 Sensoren. Front and back.

Best regards, Charly.

Hello.

Yes, the thing about the two sensors is clear, just like the verification via actuator diagnosis. Also, the basic setting isn't the actual problem, but rather that it's not dynamically adjusted afterwards. At least, not in my case. icon_confused.gif

Na great! icon_evil.gif

Here's something else I've noticed: When I drive in the evening, the headlights shine about 20 meters in front of the car. I can just live with that. The next day, they shine further, almost blinding oncoming traffic. The day after that, they might only shine 15 meters in front of the car. And all of this without refueling or any other change in load. This is especially noticeable with the German headlights, due to the sharp light/dark boundary. You could almost be tempted to switch back to a simple manual low beam adjuster, even with xenon headlights icon_evil.gif.

There might be two versions of the Golf, one static (like the one in the 3B) and possibly a true dynamic version starting around the year 2000. At least the 3BG has the dynamic version. In any case, different control units are installed in the 3B and 3BG. icon_idea.gif
Unfortunately, I don't have a way to check that for the Golf right now.

Best regards!

Hello.

Yes, there are two versions: one with an external control unit for the all-wheel drive, and one with an integrated control unit.
You can tell the difference by the fact that the control unit (STG) is attached to the side of the fender. These are the older versions, manufactured before 2003. I have the integrated versions, which were introduced from 2003 onwards. That could be the reason for the difference.

I just tried it again, and the motors start humming as soon as I turn on the ignition. When I turn on the lights, there's no more humming. It only happens when I load the car.

Post29-09-2008, 18:29    Subject: Xenon Headlight Adjustment Problems Quote

Hello everyone,

I've read through all the posts and, based on that, I tried to adjust the height of my xenon headlights on my 3BG.

I used VAG Com as described here. I selected channel 001 (Adjust...) and adjusted the headlights using the screws. Then I selected channel 002 (Learning...)

There was only one problem. I was turning the white, six-sided Allen screws. The toothed washers also turned, but the beam of light didn't change.
The height remained the same. Does anyone have a guess as to what might have gone wrong?
Did I miss something or make a mistake? Could there be a defect?
The lower screw is supposed to be for the height adjustment, right? Anyway, nothing has moved on the other one either.

Thank you very much for your help.
