Hello,
Has anyone here ever managed to establish a connection with the vehicle mentioned above? It has an OBD2 port, and according to the pinout, it uses the ISO9141-2 protocol. However, my ELM327 and Scantool are unable to communicate with the vehicle (no ECU detected).
Is Renault still using its own protocol? And if so, do I have a chance of figuring it out? My previous research hasn't been successful yet.
Best regards,

The presence of an "OBD2" socket doesn't necessarily mean that a protocol adhering to the OBD2 standard is being used. In my experience, the French have also implemented their own unique systems even after the introduction of the standard (EOBD: diesel vehicles from 2004, gasoline vehicles from 2001). Connecting to these control units is not always possible, even with some professional workshop software. It's unlikely that you'll be able to achieve much with the equipment mentioned on a 1999 diesel vehicle, sorry. Gruß
