Expansion: yes, installation: no! (at least not without a 99% chance of destroying the pump!) Passat 3B AFN Syncro, E46 330D, T3 1,7TDI, T3-Syncro TD

Gravity will make the assembly process quite difficult for you...

Okay, I figured it out by looking at the exploded diagram, thank you! BKD GRF

Except for a few engines, it doesn't work well - I unfortunately know this from experience .
An exception is, for example, the older Opel Frontera 2.3D model, where the VE (variable valve timing) is mounted vertically instead of being integrated into the distributor. selber schrauben - statt Werkstattpfusch

I did it about 7 times in a row with my AGR.
After the last few times, I didn't even feel scared when starting it up .
I used some very rancid grease from the year Schnee during the assembly.
to keep the roles in place.
It's a really sticky, gooey mess.
He has been running it problem-free for 60,000 km since that modification (except for the current transmission issue).

Our MF tractor with a Perkins A6.354 engine also has a vertical Lucas VEP. However, it's a somewhat more robust technology than what's used in passenger cars.

Correct
Just as surgeons use a wire to stitch something together, which is then dissolved by the body
And what? Are you brave enough to do it?

"@ Tagessuppe: I just wanted to remove the manifold to check for any potential debris... However, I think I'll first purchase a faulty pump and examine the whole thing in a "test run" to see how it's positioned, so that there are no surprises and I'm sure about what I'm doing." The technical article with the exploded diagram for the VP37 distribution body is certainly very helpful, but I'm not one of those people who would take such assemblies apart and then ask here how to put them back together .
