Hi Rainer,

After receiving several emails about registration problems, I tried today to register a new member using my wife's email address.

In the first round of the entrance exam, I intentionally answered one question incorrectly and consequently received a rejection notice.

So, back to the registration menu, I answered everything correctly, but again a rejection icon_exclaim.gif icon_eek.gif icon_eek.gif.

The entire process was repeated three more times, and I answered all the questions correctly each time (I hope you believe me), but each time, I received a rejection.

Even if someone fails on one question (in my opinion, questions like the one about glow plugs for pre-chamber engines are examples where you might feel that multiple answers are correct), they will eventually move on to other questions, and if they answer the subsequent questions correctly, they should receive their ticket.

But I felt like I was completely locked out icon_sad.gif.
... is it a programmed intention that, for example, the same email address can only be accepted as a new registration on a different date after a failed attempt ?

Then, in my opinion, it should be clearly stated somewhere

Did you navigate back using your browser's 'back' button, or did you refresh the page completely?

Hi Julian,
No "Return" button was used; instead, the user clicked on "Register" again.

Try clearing your cookies; maybe that will fix it!

I'm experiencing a similar problem when I try to select a different account while using online banking.

After deleting all the cookies, it works perfectly!

Regards,

Manuel.

Did you come back using the return button on your browser, or did you intentionally ?
Hi Julian,
no return button, but clicked 'register' again.

Okay, then delete the cookie, because it still existed and was preventing the modified response from being sent.

Hi Manuel,

Good tip, it worked icon_biggrin.gif.
I am writing this under my new username.

(Don't worry, my wife won't be posting here as an 'unverified' member; she has other interests.)

@Rainer:
'In my opinion, it would be helpful to include a corresponding note in the rejection message (e.g., 'To prevent future problems, we recommend waiting before attempting to register again...').'

Since this user is not actually needed, you can delete them again.

Best regards, Ulf.

That's the perfect username for you! icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif
. . . clear icon_lol.gif
I wanted to quickly find something that hasn't been used yet among the hundreds (?) of members , and is definitely still available icon_wink.gif.

Best regards, Ulf.

Hi Ulf,

Cookies are not used at all during the registration process icon_smile.gif.
I can only speculate as to why it didn't work for you; my tests were successful, however.

If you attempt a new registration, all the "dropdown" answer fields will be reset to 1. You might have missed a question that you thought you had already answered.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hi Rainer,
For me too, it only worked after I registered and deleted my cookies – so it remains a mystery.
Based on my experience, the suggestion in the rejection message might be helpful, especially since I have already received several emails from people describing problems that are strikingly similar to my own.

Well, things like that can happen on the second attempt. But if it still doesn't work afterwards, you tend to become more and more meticulous and try all sorts of things...
I can definitely rule out your assumption regarding my registration yesterday.
Gruß Ulf

Hello, I can only confirm the problems that Ulf has described.

I answered all the questions correctly, but while scrolling down with the scroll wheel, I hadn't yet exited the input field, so the answers were scrolled out of view. icon_redface.gif Unfortunately, I then didn't notice that a wrong answer was entered.

I was UNABLE to file the case that day. icon_twisted.gif

The next day, it finally happened! icon_question.gif icon_question.gif icon_question.gif

Hello,

I've discovered something. Cookies are being used for session management.
Therefore, it is quite possible that the problems with registration are due to cookie issues (and thus different session IDs).

Unfortunately, I am unable to reproduce the error on any of my computers or with IE5.5/Netscape 6.2.1. icon_confused.gif

Best regards, Rainer.
