AC Not Cooling? Diagnose with VCDS.

Hello, the title sounds strange, but unfortunately, that's exactly what it is.

My acquaintance called me and said that his air conditioning (Climatronic, A6, 1998, 2.4) wasn't working. I then read the error memory, and the result was "No Error." Okay, so I wanted to check the cooling performance myself and started the engine. After about 10 seconds, I heard the fan and noticed that cold air was coming out of the vents inside the car. Just as I was about to tell him to go get a beer to celebrate the successful repair, I realized that it wasn't cooling anymore.

The problem with the air conditioning is this: When I access any existing control unit in the car using VCDS, the air conditioning works. However, when I go back to the main screen of VCDS, it doesn't cool. I'm a bit puzzled.

Can anyone give me some advice on this, or has anyone experienced something similar before?

I wouldn't want to overwork the brain just yet, so I would simply disconnect the battery for a while and hope that it functions normally after reconnecting it.
