FSI Hose: What is this pipe for?

My TDI has an open shaft on the right side, which means it vents directly into the engine compartment.

What other types of pipes does the FSI have here?

To the best of my knowledge, it's a 'krümmerkühlung' system.
He only has those stamped metal manifolds instead of a cast part.

The open part bothered me because dirt could get in.

So,

My 3C and the 1K models do not have an open section there, because it is closed off further forward by an additional grille.

Other models (like the Caddy 2K and Polo 9N3) have very easy access to the engine compartment.

Is there a stopper for that?
