Hello Herbert.
My primary concern is to help Mike.
The post has been active since May 22nd.
Mike has asked several times, but nothing has materialized.
Now he has disassembled the pump.
Let's see what else needs to be done...
Best regards, Jörg.

Thank you to everyone involved for their help.
I'm now going to bite the bullet and get a refurbished pump.
Does anyone know a way to determine the correct pump type using data from the engine control unit (ECU)?

I just learned that it doesn't matter whether a VP44 pump is used in a manual or automatic vehicle, as this is determined by the coding of the engine control unit.

To my knowledge, this cannot be reconfigured in the AKE system.

That's correct, even though the option is selectable. That's why I also had to buy a completely new control unit from Audi. The new pump will arrive in a few days. Then we'll see what happens next.

Okay, so I finally installed a new fuel pump after a long time, and I have to say, it's running just as badly as before. This is ridiculous! There are error codes in the memory: 'Control difference, intake manifold pressure,' and 'Control limit exceeded.' It's going into limp mode 2 at 3000 RPM. Everything is new now. What could it possibly be now? I noticed that my crankshaft position sensor is installed at the 6 o'clock position, which is usually around the 2 o'clock position when looking at the engine (I think). But I guess it probably doesn't matter, right?

Hi, I'm not exactly an expert... but what exactly did you replace, the fuel pump or the VP44?
The VP44 is not self-priming, meaning that diesel fuel must either flow to it by gravity or be supplied using a pre-pump. Since you installed the engine in a T3, I don't know where the fuel is coming from.
If the fuel pump is working correctly and the VP44 is new, then the problem is most likely due to a lack of fuel. Have you made sure you're using the correct filter and that it's connected in the right direction? The fuel temperature is also measured... are all of these things correct? I have already replaced the VP44. The pump is theoretically self-priming. However, by the time you've managed to bleed all the air out of a 1.5-meter long diesel line filled with air, the battery is drained, and the lifespan of the VP44 decreases to just a few weeks. If the system is filled with diesel, a check valve that prevents the diesel from flowing back before the pump is also sufficient.
Something else... The new, refurbished pump, which costs 900 euros, is leaking at the shaft. The fluid is just pouring out of it. You can tell me whatever you want, but there's the devil in this car.
The car is now going to the Chamber of Crafts. There, a masterclass will focus on the topic of manure piles.
Can someone please answer my question about the speed sensor?
