...or does the oil accumulate to such a depth that it's acceptable?
I don't want everything to go wrong during the acceptance testing of the ZK.

Background: The car (Ibiza 6K1, engine code ASV) has been parked for two weeks with everything removed except the cylinder head. I want to perform an oil change with the engine warm to get rid of all the old gunk. However, the engine is currently not running.

Best regards,
Georg

Hi Georg!

No problem, the engine oil does not need to be drained before removing the cylinder head.
However, an oil change should be performed afterwards - that's a given.

However, some engine oil residue always remains in the ZK (oil separator), which doesn't drain back into the oil pan – it's probably around 50-100 ml.
Therefore, during the dismantling process, something will inevitably come loose, which unfortunately cannot be avoided. icon_wink.gif

I don't see any problem there, especially since the engine hasn't been running for at least 2 weeks. icon_wink.gif Nothing much should happen.

When removing the cylinder head, coolant residue can leak into the engine oil, so it's advisable to change the oil after the repair.

Best regards, Rainer.
