Hello,

I replaced the camshafts in my AKE engine because they were severely worn.
Purchased the complete Campro set, so everything is included, like the Hydros, etc.

Okay, here's the translation:

"Now I have the following problem:"
After each cold start, the vehicle runs on fewer than all cylinders for approximately 15 minutes. This is manifested by a slight vibration and uneven engine running.
Once the car reaches its operating temperature, everything is perfect!

It definitely has to do with the opening of the valves, caused by the hydraulic lifters. When the engine is cold, oil likely leaks out of the hydraulic lifters, which is why I'm experiencing these problems.

Question: I heard that the 2.5L TDI engine has so-called oil return valves. Does anyone know about these, or can anyone tell me if this might be related to my problem?

Thank you.

Hi Luiggi,
You say

flow.
Do you hear the lifters or valves rattling?
A collapsed hydraulic lifter makes itself noticeable with a distinct, loud rattling sound that increases with engine speed.
If that's the case, remove the valve cover, rotate each cylinder to its top dead center (TDC) one by one, and locate the culprit by pressing down on the valve lifters.
You can already locate the affected cylinder using VCDS (by checking the long-term fuel trim values).
If there is no noticeable noise, the timing would be the first thing to check after the repair.

Or, if there are no rattling or clicking sounds, and everything else seems correct, then it's likely okay to close it.
