Today, I started my A3 TDI with the 1Z engine, no problem. I stopped briefly at the bakery, and when I tried to start it again, the engine turned off, and the immobilizer light came on.
I then waited for about 20 seconds with the ignition on, and the immobilizer light went off, and the engine could be started again.
What is it? Is the control unit malfunctioning, or is it a problem with the key?
Or is it the cash register in the bakery that is interfering with my control unit?

Wie? Der A3 hat den 1Z Motor? I'm not familiar with that.
Did you unlock the car with the FFB (Force Feedback) or with a key?

Hello, it's a 1997 A3 with a 90 horsepower 1.6 engine.
I unlocked the car using the aftermarket remote control.

Hello,
Okay, I also don't know of any A3 models that come standard with a 1Z engine.
The 1Z was installed in the following Audi vehicles during the model years '96 and '97:
4A2 - A100/A6
4A5 - A100/A6 Avant
8C5 - Audi 80 Avant
8D2 - A4
8D5 - A4 Avant
8G7 - A4 Convertible.
What does the error memory say? Tschüss

Hello, the problem is gone. I really suspect the cash register of the bakery. It was only 3-4 meters away from my car.
Today, I will read the error codes.
What are the engine codes for the 90 hp TDI engine in the A3?

It's located on a sticker in the service booklet or in the trunk under the carpet.
Best regards, Rainer.

Hi,
I guess that refers to the 66kW engine with MKB and AGR.
Best regards,
Wolfgang.

Hello, so it's an AGR with 90 horsepower.
The error is gone, and the error memory is clear, so it was probably some kind of interference.
