Hi.
"When I need to brake gently (e.g., going down a ramp in a parking garage), my rear brakes squeal quite loudly."
When switching from winter to summer tires, I was "messing around" with things from the outside, meaning I tried to do something somehow between the outer brake pads and the caliper.
It actually made things worse.
Now, thanks to the change, I know that this is the right place.
What do you think about this?
- Approach the EPB (Emergency Parking Brake).
- Gently squeeze the brake caliper together.
- Insert a piece of cloth between the pliers and the material.
- If necessary, use a cloth with some ceramic paste on it.
- Revert to EPB.
Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation. Transparency, Teamwork
... there was another T.
I don't know what the f*ck it was.

I think it's more likely that I need to expand it, verschandeln it, break the edges, lubricate it, and then install it.
the better solution is, or, if necessary, replace it with a suitable alternative.
As far as I know, the blocks are covered with a plastic layer or plate on the outside, which is why lubrication wouldn't be effective in that area. LG, Onkel BM

Well, at least the "degreasing" resulted in "more squeak."
And I have to hurry, because it makes less noise/no noise when it's hot.

Hello,
I've experienced the same problem with my colleague's vehicle; there's a Technical Service Bulletin (TPI) about it available from the dealerships.
It replaces the brake caliper carrier (or whatever you want to call it) with a new design.
The old mechanism somehow starts to vibrate, and then there's the loud squeaking .

Thank you.

I'll ask about it for you, but I can't promise anything; it's been a couple of years already.

Above all, the question of cost is always relevant.
Because if I have to pay for everything, I might as well just replace the toppings.
Then things should be quiet again.

I would do it that way too -- and you have new linings .
Above all, I would replace the original equipment (OE) pads with a premium brand product.
The OE manufacturer primarily focuses on other components. It's not impossible that the standard brake pads are a (cheap) product sourced from another supplier. LG, Onkel BM

Unfortunately, it's not included in the price. It's a dealbreaker for me in my vehicle. I have no idea who manufactures these things. They used to be made by Lucas, I think.
Lucas KlÜtze habe ich ein paar Mal verbaut - NIE WIEDER!, wogegen Bremssättel von Lucas standfester als zB. ATE are/were.
Recently, my friend and I finally got rid of everything related to those brake pads. Since then, there's been no more rumbling or noise. LG, Onkel BM

I just checked again:
Everything is still in its original condition, with the TRW logo and the VW part number visible from the outside through the large holes in the Monte Carlo spokes.

Quote: | | And what did you put in there? | My own brand, which I've been using for ages (P...d).
Advantages: Braking performance -> consistent from start to finish, no issues with vibrations, durable like original equipment (OE) and affordable.
Disadvantage: Brake discs are not yet available with a coating for all vehicle types. A little more dust on the rims - I personally haven't experienced this.
My front brakes are now due for replacement after 120,000 km and 7 years. They were still sufficient for the technical inspection (TĂV). LG, Onkel BM
