The sensor with the Bosch part number 0281002401 or the VAG part number 038906051c is a combination sensor that measures both charge air pressure and charge air temperature. It is installed on the "cool" side of the charge air system, i.e., in the intercooler or in the intake line to the engine. Price: approximately €62 at VW.

Thank you for your help!

I did some debugging over the weekend. And I'm probably 99% sure I've found the faulty sensor, which is located in the intercooler hose.
I disassembled it and used a hairdryer to cool and heat it, which created temperature fluctuations that I could observe using VCDS. "G42, therefore, I have now located this sensor, and I will be replacing it on Monday."

Thank you for your quick responses, please keep it up!!!

Hi everyone, I've now found the sensor based on the wiring diagram. G42 and G31 are the same sensor: the boost pressure sensor and the intake air temperature sensor.
I hope others can quickly identify and narrow down the source of the error!

G42 and G31 are the same
. Not quite, it's a "combination sensor" (as Mpire already pointed out), with different sensors and connections for the respective measurement ranges.
Is the error gone after the swap?

Otherwise, to determine the necessary amount of combustion air for combustion, one needs the pressure and temperature of that air. The oxygen content is assumed, and the sensors required for that would be excessive even in a car (or are approximated by the ambient air pressure), and in any case, the driver will be confronted with other problems if a certain threshold is exceeded. Therefore, the car will likely operate in this way. Consequently, it only makes sense to collect this data where it remains "unchanged" for the subsequent process, i.e., after the intercooler. I don't know any other way.

What information should a temperature sensor located on the intake side, before the turbocharger, report to the engine control unit (ECU)?

I need to change it today.
What I would like to know is where I can find a complete RLF (Relay Logic Function) diagram, and what the cost would be.
You won't find any help on Google.

There are several possibilities...

Esitronic.
Gutmann.
etc.

Manufacturers are legally obligated to disclose everything.
https://erwin.volkswagen.de/ but you need a credit card.

However, VAG has something great to offer.
with SPP numbers..., everything is explained there, including how things work, etc.
Just do a Google search; there are similar options available for the Touran as well.

What do you mean by "spp numbers," and where should I Google it?

TimNaemi probably means a self-study program (SSP).

These are directly from VW and are intended to train service technicians.
However, they are also readily available for purchase from various shops. Google finds a large number of results icon_wink.gif.

SSP - 306 for the Touran (assembly and construction).
SSP - 307 The Touran - Electrical System

SSP - 316 The 2.0L TDI engine is likely the one you're looking for for the AZV.

Regards, Mpire.
