hello,
'On my 1994 Passat (1Z), the warning light for engine electronics occasionally illuminates.'
It's only the engine power that's noticeable; the engine runs smoothly without any jerking or hesitation.
I received the following message from wagcom:
00542 - Needle feed mechanism.
05-10 - Entrance open - Intermittent.
I checked the needle lift sensor according to the procedure, but there's no change (no misfiring).
Now I'm going to verschandeln the cable connections and add fuel injector cleaner.
Can anyone give me some advice here?

Hi,
Quote: | | 05-10 - Input open - Intermittent | = Connection interrupted.
So, it could be a loose connection in one of the connectors leading to the control unit, a broken wire, or a problem with the sensor's coil itself.
Best regards, Rainer.

Have you ever measured the resistance of the NBF?

What is 'NBF'? Is it the needle lift mechanism?
I haven't measured anything yet. What should the resistance be in ohms?
I've cleaned the contacts and checked the wiring harness; everything looks okay.
Today I went to Volkswagen. The replacement costs €220. If the sensor is actually faulty, a new one needs to be installed, but if not, it's just frustrating.
Are these parts available anywhere cheaper?

With NBF (Needle Movement Sensor), the term refers to the needle stroke generator.
In the truck sector (specifically for MAN vehicles), the target value is between 80 and 120 Ohms.
As far as I know, this threshold value also applies in the passenger car sector.
However, as I said, I'm not entirely sure anymore.

I found it online; it's supposed to be around 100 ohms.
Tomorrow I will take measurements, but there seems to be a loose connection...
'Furthermore, the indicator light doesn't stay on constantly, and besides the power issue, you don't notice anything else.'
And if I restart, the problem goes away.

Just out of curiosity:
Have you ever measured the resistance of the old NBF?
