I'm having the following problem:
I installed a V6 TDI (AFB) engine in my boat. The engine originally came from an automatic transmission vehicle. Now, I've installed a dual-mass flywheel from an AAH (V6 gasoline) engine. The starter motor from the TDI fits. I'm not using a clutch bell. The G28 sensor is mounted on a rail, allowing for continuous adjustment within a range of approximately 30° on the flywheel. The engine runs, but only after experimenting with the sensor's position. I just want to avoid damaging anything...
Question:
Does the engine control unit actually receive the signal from the sensor when the corresponding cylinder is at Top Dead Center (TDC)?

Probably yes, otherwise the G28 probably wouldn't be named that way. } If that's really the case, I could rotate the engine to TDC and align the G28 with one of the six recesses in the dual-mass flywheel.
I just want to be on the safe side. Unfortunately, I haven't found anything suitable in any of the SSPs.
Here's a similar problem, but unfortunately, there's no solution either.
