Audi A8 PIN: Used MSG, WFS3, 2000 Model

"On my father's Audi A8, manufactured in 2000 with the WFS 3 engine, the engine control unit (ECU) has failed. The ECU is still accessible via diagnostics, but it no longer communicates with other ECUs via CAN bus ("Missing message from ECU" in the transmission, ABS, climate control, and instrument cluster)."

To quickly narrow down the source of the problem (wiring vs. MSG), I bought a used MSG for 50€ on eBay and installed it. All the errors are now gone, but the WFS (Vehicle Function System) rightfully blocks the engine. Now, I've researched the issue and realized that I need not only the PIN for our WFS, but also the PIN for the used MSG I purchased. Of course, I don't have either of them.

Can Audi simply determine the PINs based on the vehicle and the now-installed, used MSG, or do I need the VIN or even more information from the donor vehicle from the seller? Is it enough to go to Audi with a car scan, ID, and vehicle registration and get both PINs that way?

Previously, the login could be queried, but today, everything runs online/internally through the tester, so they no longer see the login themselves.

Therefore, it can really only be done by Audi, or someone who has the appropriate hardware/software to read the data.

if it's not easy to adapt (depending on the WFS generation, WFS-2 simply resets the adaptation channel, http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Immobilizer), I would simply desolder the serial EEPROM from the old control unit and solder it into the replacement control unit.
It will probably be an 8-pin SMD component, possibly a 24Cxx chip or some other Bosch part.
If you can provide a clear picture of the circuit board, I can tell you which component it is.

That is an EDC15.
Reading the PIN via the K-line shouldn't be a problem.
(regarding old and new).

It will be easiest if you do it the way Rainer suggests.

You could also access the old PIN through the combination.

Well, that's good then. To be honest, I didn't recognize the differently-looking metal box as an EDC15, but you could have figured it out based on the engine.
