Steering Wheel Controls: Features & Functions

The control panel shown in the picture sometimes gets stuck, as if a grain of sand is blocking the button press. After a few steering maneuvers, it may completely disappear, or a different button may get stuck.

I would like to take it apart to inspect it. Does anyone know how to disassemble the dashboard? There are no more screws on the steering wheel.

To remove the control panel, the airbag must be removed. (Airbag work must only be performed by trained professionals.) Once the airbag is removed, you will see a Torx screw. Unscrew this, and then the control panel can be detached.

Okay, thank you. And how do I remove the airbag cover? I didn't see any screws on the back.

The airbag is held in place by a bracket on the left and right. You need to push the brackets from the back, and then you can remove the airbag completely. To do this, slightly turn the steering wheel and look from above behind the steering wheel, as that's where the recesses are. It's best to use a mirror.
