BMW X3 swirl flaps

After purchasing a very well-maintained BMW X3 2.0D, I experienced a sudden loss of power after approximately 2000 km, and I felt like the engine was only running on three cylinders. The MKL light was not illuminated, but after a few kilometers, the power was restored.
I took the car to the mechanic, and they told me it was a bigger problem than initially thought, and that I should expect to pay around 1200 euros. Reading the error codes didn't yield any results, so it must be a mechanical issue.
Okay, so I removed the intake manifold, took out the swirl flaps, put in the blind plugs, installed a new gasket set, and the repair was complete.
The whole thing cost 28 euros, not 1200 like at the dealership.
I am now very skeptical about statements made by the doctor.

Well, your solution is clearly much cheaper, but the one from the "Freundlichen" would have included the BE (certificate).
