The error code P2563, "Boost pressure control valve position sensor - implausible signal," is triggered when the position feedback from the boost pressure control valve is not within the expected range. With our diagnostic systems, HEX-NET and HEX-V2, you can easily identify this error and conduct further investigation to determine the root cause. Our OBD diagnostic system is also available for other vehicle brands.

Possible causes:
- Faulty electrical wiring/connections to the position sensor.
- Faulty boost pressure control valve (e.g., the vacuum sensor does not hold vacuum, or an electric actuator, as found in 3.0 V6 TDIs, is mechanically or electrically defective).
- The turbocharger's wastegate is stuck or difficult to move (the actuator is unable to properly adjust the wastegate).
- Engine control unit (ECU) defective (due to water ingress or similar).

Hello diesel mechanics,

I tried to reply to your article P2563, but I'm not a moderator. I'd like to add that this problem can also occur due to a fault in the vacuum system. In my case, it was a broken air connection to the vacuum sensor on the EGR valve of a T5 built in 2014 with a 2.0 TDI engine. This causes the vacuum sensor in the turbocharger control system to reach its full range of travel, and the sensor then reports an error. First, the preheating indicator starts flashing, then the engine check light comes on.

Best regards, Slotti20

Thank you for the information! Yes, the lack of or incorrect vacuum pressure can also be caused by something else. You can use VCDS and the actuator test function to test actuators in the vacuum system.
