Hi everyone,
Our piece of junk software is acting up again.
It received a new high-pressure pump 18 months ago and is now sporadically throwing errors.
The numbers 004197 and 000136 bother me the most.
I attribute the majority of the issue to undervoltage caused by winter conditions and operation in a short-haul mode.

Fuel system (bank 1) rail/system pressure too high

Since the error scan shows a high-pressure reading in addition to the pressure regulation difference, you can likely be quite confident about the high-pressure pump. If the high-pressure pump is worn out, it won't be able to build up the necessary pressure in the fuel rail.
Therefore, I suspect that the fuel pressure regulator problems are caused by the fuel pressure sender and/or the pressure control valve. Also, carefully check their associated wiring and connectors.
Is the M18x1.5 pressure sensor #03L 906 054A the correct one?
I have no idea; the VAG part number should also be found on the sensor itself.
Climate stuff: I scrolled too far down while trying to find the text to copy, so it was edited. Nevertheless, a faulty high-pressure pump is an unrealistic cause for excessively high rail pressure.
What exactly was the cause of the failure in the last high-pressure pump, and was the injection system cleaned or completely replaced (due to debris)?
It was cleaned, but I didn't do it myself; I took it to the dealer.
It was only idling. Apparently, it was completely worn out with a near-zero boost pressure.
