Brake Booster Vacuum Hose: DIY Replacement Guide

VW Golf 1.9 TDI 4motion, 130 horsepower.

"The vacuum hose likely has a crack on the pump side. I noticed this by wiggling it after turning off the engine, and it made different hissing sounds. The symptom was a rapidly decreasing brake booster effect after stopping the engine. Can I buy the hose (for about 30 EUR) and replace it myself without special tools or knowledge? It seems to have some kind of crimp clamp on the pump side."

The simple answer is yes.
If the replacement part is another type of crimp connector (with a "loop"), you will either need a special crimping tool for it, or you can use a pair of pliers and a U-shaped nail as a makeshift solution. The connectors should be present at both ends of the hose ----> parts catalog.
