Hello everyone.

I had the diesel particulate filter cleaned on my Audi 8K 3.0 CCWA.
The car reported a full particulate filter, along with a loss of power and all the associated issues.
Okay, so I had the particulate filter cleaned by the company Barten (90 grams). Ashes.
I also replaced the differential pressure sensor as a matter of routine in this context.

Result:
Before cleaning:
Soot mass calculated: approximately 25g.
Soot mass measured: approximately 45g.

After cleaning:
Soot mass calculated: approximately 25g, and decreasing with increased engine speed at idle.
Soot mass measured: approximately 0.5g.

Now, I wanted to reset the ash mass to around 3 grams.
Unfortunately, I can't find this setting in VCDS.
Neither in the settings nor in the basic configuration.
I only found and executed the reset function for the particle filter learning values and the differential pressure sensor.

Could it be that the vehicle's recall status has expired, and he's the one who notices it, or am I simply making a mistake here?

Regards,
Bolzer.

Hello,

"Russmass" and "Aschemass/Aschevolumen" are different things. The latter can be adjusted using VCDS after the DPF has been replaced or cleaned. See:
Okay, I'm ready. Please provide the German text you want me to translate.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hello Rainer,

You are absolutely right that soot and ash are different things.
I have only used the values for black carbon mass for illustrative purposes.
My mistake.

I've already driven the car a few meters.
I also created a small log.
The oil ash volume is completely at 0.
Could it be that I reset the value to 0 by resetting the learning value of the particulate filter?
I would have expected to find a value here that could be used for writing, rather than just a point for resetting the learning rate.

Regards, Bolzer.

Hi,

As you can see from my Screenshot, it works through the "Adjustment" function in the engine control unit, in my case, "Initialization of the particulate filter." You can also enter the mileage.
It's possible that it has a different name depending on your specific engine control unit. In such cases, it's always best to post a Screenshot.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hello Rainer,

I went back to the vehicle and checked again.
I'm having trouble initializing the particle filter during the adaptation process; I'm getting the error message: "Error: Channel is not available."

Regards,
Bolzer.

Hey!

I'm experiencing the exact same problem. The DPF has been cleaned and reinstalled. However, the oil ash volume cannot be reset: ERROR: Channel not available. Access permission was granted on the control unit. Okay, bitte gib mir den deutschen Text und den Log, den du übersetzt haben möchtest. Ich werde dann nur die englische Übersetzung liefern.
Could it be that the faulty throttle body unit is preventing the change from being made? For testing purposes, I tried to perform a service regeneration, but unfortunately, that's not working either. Does anyone have any ideas on how we could solve this problem?

@JeanAudi3.0TDI8KViewing profile: JeanAudi3.0TDI8K: Yes, that's quite possible. Forced regeneration with other errors = problem.

@BolzerViewing profile: Bolzer: Is your engine control unit working correctly?

Hi.
The control unit is functioning correctly.
Log attached.

But what completely confuses me is that the oil ash volume is now at 0.
I have attached the measurement data.

Therefore, I unfortunately have to repeat my question.
Could it be that the system automatically detects when the diesel particulate filter is empty, or is the reset performed through the default settings?

Then, for whatever reason, it just works. icon_biggrin.gif
