Webasto Heater Problems Sharan 7N

Yesterday, I wanted to use the convenience of the auxiliary heater. Unfortunately, this didn't happen without an error message.

Where should I start troubleshooting now? I've already unlocked the heating system. The error has occurred again.

Test: With the engine running and cold, turn on the auxiliary heater and observe the temperature values using VCDS. If everything is working correctly (i.e., water is circulating through the engine water pump while the engine is running), then proceed to the next test: with the engine off, if the temperature becomes too high and the heater shuts off, then the circulation pump is likely defective.
If the error persists even when the system is cold and the temperature reading is too high, then the temperature sensor is likely defective.

I ran the SHZ (presumably a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system) with the engine off. After the fan starts and the heater turns on, it starts making knocking and rattling noises. Then, the heater goes into shutdown mode, and only the interior fan continues to run. If it's just a fault, it's likely of a mechanical nature.

I don't have any error entries anymore .

It's quite possible that the heating system is overheating - repeat the test with the engine running !!!!

I drove today with the traction control system (TCS) activated, and I felt that it was working correctly.

Using VCDS in service mode, I performed the basic settings and observed the following:

1. It's still rattling and sputtering.
Within a short period, the heating water temperature rose above 100°C, at which point the heating system shut off.


There are still no error entries in the memory.

I spoke with a repair technician and described the problem. It's likely the circulation pump.

Since it's an on-site installation, he needs the model type and a picture of the pump housing, specifically showing the outlet connections. With that information, he can provide the appropriate pump.

Using the original part number from the VW spare parts catalog (AKTE), you can find the correct pump and photos (e.g., on eBay). This way, you don't have to disassemble the car and wait for parts to arrive.

You can also order them directly online. They are significantly cheaper there than from VW.

I have already done that .

Yesterday, I finally had the chance to replace the pump. Now I can finally use the STHZ again to its full extent.

Thank you for the feedback! Is the G18 actually installed in the pump, or how did the intermittent short circuit to ground occur?

The G18 is externally mounted in the front bumper, according to RLF. I can't explain the error message. After clearing it, it didn't reappear. Attached is a picture of the opened, broken pump. When connected to the battery, you can see that the impeller cannot start on its own.

New Sharan, new game. The vehicle has approximately 50,000 km on the odometer.

The water pump of the STHZ has failed again. It's obviously a design flaw.
