Hello,

In the current version (19.6.2 DRV) and previous versions of VCDS, when reading the engine torque, the displayed values are too high. Specifically, it shows the values for a Euro 6 engine with AdBlue (580 Nm). However, after multiple performance tests, the actual value is very close to the originally specified 500 Nm.
When the component was a 3.0 TDI EDC17 H41 0002 software version in the engine control unit (ECU), everything was correct and only 500 Nm of torque were being output.

Is it because the engine software is displaying this information incorrectly, or is it because VCDS is normalizing it incorrectly due to a problem with the label file?

If it were the engine software, that would be an indication that this software is not suitable for this particular engine. The car dealership wasn't sure beforehand whether it was compatible and simply tried installing it.
Is there anyone here who can verify which software version is allowed for each engine type?

Address 01: Engine Control Module (J623-CDUC)
Label file: .DRV\059-907-401-V2.clb
Part number SW: 8K5 907 401 G, HW: 4G0 907 401.
Component: 3.0 TDI EDC17 H41 0003.
Revision: 53H41---
Encoding: 1A25001A046603020000
Operating number:
ASAM Dataset: EV_ECM30TDI0118K5907401G 001005
ROD: EV_ECM30TDI0118K5907401.rod

Thank you for your help.

Hello,

Please always include a Screenshot in such cases, especially so that it is clear which specific measurement value is being referred to.

Torque specifications from the engine have always included the internal torque of the motor itself.

What torque value is displayed on your instrument panel when the engine is running at idle and no gear is selected?

Then a torque of approximately 0 Nm is applied to the transmission.
If the display shows approximately 60-70 Nm, this represents the internal torque of the motor, i.e., the force required to overcome the internal friction of the unit and drive it from the generator, etc.

Hello Rainer,

Thank you for your response.

From your first link, it's clear that this refers to the peak torque value. The transmission control unit outputs exactly 500 Nm of torque. The torque limit is over 612 Nm.

I can provide a Screenshot if you need one.

Nevertheless, it remains inexplicable.
Before the software update, the engine was only producing 500 Nm of torque (but it felt noticeably better and more agile).
"Normally, engines are tested on a dynamometer without any auxiliary components, and this data is included in the specifications. Unfortunately, for sales brochures in the passenger car sector, the underlying standard used is not always clearly stated."

Can you verify if the software version is correct?
Are you also sure that the label file is correct?

Hello,

Quote:

na whether it's the right one for your engine control unit if it has been tuned, which is unlikely anyway. icon_smile.gif
However, according to my list, this is the current version (0003).

No, I have no influence over that either -> Ross-Tech is the manufacturer of the diagnostic system.

It's best to record screenshots or measurements; then we can say something about it.

Best regards, Rainer.

However, according to my list, this is the current version (0003).

That helps me already. The vehicle is not modified. Now I need to find a way to revert back to version 0002. The "Four Rings" company seems inflexible, even though they caused the problem.

Hi.

Okay, but I don't think a "strange diagnostic value that no one ever looks at" is enough to cause a big fuss.

Please also provide a Screenshot so that we can see which specific measurement value is being referred to. There are various data points that can be queried, and if it's, for example, the demand via the accelerator pedal, then a higher maximum value would be completely irrelevant.
In the example, when pressing the pedal, the motor would feel like it's responding slightly better to the accelerator because the instantaneous demand would be higher at the same accelerator position.

In this example, it's important to keep things in perspective and only complain about real problems during the icon_smile.gif. icon_idea.gif

Best regards, Rainer.
