Hello,

Last week, a car was parked in my driveway. I left it in first gear. This morning, I tried to reverse out of the driveway, but I can't seem to get it out of first gear anymore.
It feels like something is preventing me from getting out of the wings and onto the stage for the first act.

It's a 2006 Audi A4, 3.0 TDI Quattro, with 340,000 kilometers (approximately 217,000 miles).

Does anyone know this effect?

Regarding the gearbox, there are at least two "locking bushings" with a spring-loaded ball inside a ball-bearing sleeve for the shift linkage, which may occasionally jam. Could it be due to one of those?

If possible, I would try driving a few centimeters in first gear and then attempt to shift gears again.

Thanks for the tip. Since the driveway has a slight incline, I can roll backward and then drive forward again for about 4 meters.
I've tried it a few times just now.
But unfortunately, it didn't help.

Try starting the car briefly without pressing the clutch pedal.

Does the clutch disengage properly, at least in your perception?

The clutch is disengaging normally.
I don't notice any difference compared to last week.
I'm just having trouble getting into first gear.
I have a pit in the garage, maybe I can get the car up on it tomorrow, then I might be able to see what the actuation shaft on the left side of the transmission is doing when you move the gear knob from inside the car.

I examined the shift linkage and shift shaft with its lower routing mechanism, but I couldn't find any faults there.
I then had this idea that maybe some ball bearings were stuck in the locking sleeves, or I read somewhere that this has apparently caused switching problems or malfunctions before.
I used the VAG T40054 tool to remove the top two.
But they look completely normal and don't seem to be stuck.
However, what has changed is that I can now switch between the cylinders (R, 1, 3, and 5) with some effort, at least it feels like it. But I still can't access the passages below the idle air bypass valve.
I'm at the end of my rope now.
Does anyone have any other tips or theories?

I probably need to find a company that specializes in repairs that take the vehicle's value into account.

It seems like something might be jammed in the transmission. I would recommend taking it to a specialized company that can repair transmissions.
