The Audi still had the original Varta battery from 2007 installed. I replaced it with a more powerful Banner battery and wanted to code the new values into control module STG. 61. However, this works differently here than I'm used to from newer VW vehicles.

The Audi has a start/stop system and also a pre-heating function.

Unfortunately, I didn't take any screenshots...

In the STG 61 coding menu, there's a drop-down menu where you can select the old ET number of the battery. After that, a long string of code appears, which is not further documented. Is this the BEM code of the new battery? Or what should I put here?

Simply specifying the new manufacturer and incrementing the serial number by one probably won't be enough, because I want to inform the STG (System Test Group) that the new battery has 50A more cooling capacity.

1. You can select the manufacturer from the dropdown menu.
2. Enter the part number (that matches the specifications of your battery).
>> This allows you to specify the Ah (ampere-hour) capacity of your battery to the BEM (Battery Energy Management) system, as well as the battery technology being used (standard flooded or AGM).
It determines the charging curve, the final charging voltage, and the amount of energy that can be extracted.
This is important so that the deep discharge protection kicks in on time and the display in the MMI is accurate.

3. Change the serial number. This will reset all learning values (battery aging and the counter for charging cycles used).
Otherwise, the "new" one will be loaded just like the "old" one, with the same high level of wear and tear.

- AGM batteries with capacities of 95Ah and 105Ah are possible.
- For wet batteries, a maximum of 110Ah is possible; higher capacities will not be recognized.

The new Banner battery has a slightly higher cold-cranking current but the same capacity of 110 Ah. This means that I select "Banner" from the drop-down menu and increment the serial number by 1. This will then reset the values in the Battery Management System (BMS). As soon as the Audi is back with me, I'll take care of it.
