AFN Engine Control Unit: No Reprogramming

Hi.

I practically inherited a 1997 A4 Avant TDI Quattro with an AFN engine in the fall; it's currently being used as a winter car.

Recently, I noticed that it has an encoding that I'm not familiar with; normally, it's:

00001 Front-wheel drive, manual transmission.

00002 Automatic.

00003 Quattro

This control unit is coded to 00016 and will not accept any changes.

Am I too stupid, or does anyone know what's wrong?

The possible coding options are defined in the control unit's data set. Furthermore, recoding makes no sense if you don't know what changes are being made in the engine control unit.
It's possible that different encodings are being switched between, for example, a tuning version and the original version, as is the case with the AFN.
In short: You need to ask the person who programmed the software to make encoding 16 switchable.

According to my records, for the previous 1Z model, the applicable coding for the replacement control unit (STG) for the MSA 15 is 011 to 013, depending on the part number. Perhaps you can find something in the parts catalog (RLF)?

Thank you for the responses. My thought was simply to change the code from 00016 to the original code 00003 for Quattro.

The engine control unit (ECU) installed is not the original one. When my friend's son purchased the Quattro 5 years ago, a performance upgrade had been recorded in the vehicle's documentation due to modified software in the ECU, but the modified ECU itself was no longer installed at that time.

When picking up the part, it was sufficient to show the other part number to the KÜS inspector.

I'm going to leave everything as it is.

If you change your mind... I still have a set of Rainers large nozzles lying around... after my AFN launched its pulley and vibration dampers from the crankshaft onto the A7. X
