Hi,

"For some time now, my Golf IV TDI with the ASZ engine has been making a creaking noise on the clutch pedal. When the car is cold, there's no noise, but once the heater has warmed up the footwell, the pedal creaks loudly every time I press it and every time I release it. I've already treated the pivot points of the spring and the pedal, as well as the linkage to the master cylinder, with grease spray, but without any success."

How can I permanently silence the nagging voice in my head?
Does a defect in the hydraulic system eventually manifest as a noise transmitted to the pedal? Hydraulic systems are known to sometimes cause problems...

The brake fluid level is fine.

THANK YOU!
Gruß

Hi,

-> Search function: Try searching for articles I wrote on that topic; it was completely covered there (I actually dealt with that myself before).

The ultimate solution was to replace the bearing bushing with one that had a Teflon coating (at least, according to the mechanic, as it was under warranty, so there's unfortunately no documentation to prove it).

Best regards,

January.

@Jan6k:

Thanks, I haven't seen a topic like this here before. However, Michael II's comments are a bit concerning. If the coating of the actuator cylinder has really come loose, then there are a lot of particles circulating in the hydraulics. That doesn't feel very good. Well, maybe it's just the bearing bushing. But how could it be making the same noises even with grease spray?

Until my workshop figures this out, it will likely cost me at least 3 visits icon_evil.gif icon_evil.gif.

Did you also experience that it only started happening when the interior or the engine was warm?

I'm also annoyed that I had to take everything down yesterday in that freezing cold weather (a big thank you to the madman who designed these structures icon_rolleyes.gif), and despite the lubrication, there's no improvement whatsoever.

Hi Roger,

I experienced it during the summer, when it was really hot. Then I took it to the workshop (because of the warranty), and they sprayed some silicone lubricant on it. That helped for about 10 minutes.

Next, they replaced the switch (which, I had already thought was nonsense), but it didn't make any difference.

Then I recounted what Michael II had written, and they said they would replace the donor cylinder. However, when I brought the car in, they said something along the lines of having done some research, and that apparently led to them replacing the bushing instead.

Apparently, trying to bribe someone doesn't achieve anything.

"But three visits to the workshop fits quite well, because that's how many times I've been there."

Best regards,

Jan.
