Hello.

It looks like I urgently need new injectors for my 1Z ("smells" like a swirl chamber injector, the idle speed regulation shows significant differences with VAG-COM, there's an audible, hard knocking sound in one cylinder when it's cold). I've been looking on eBay, and there are some injectors available for an ALH. Can I safely install those injectors into my 1Z icon_question.gif?
I also inquired with Bosch service about replacement nozzles for the 1Z. However, according to them, those are not available. icon_eek.gif This means I would have to buy a whole set of new nozzles, for almost 1000 euros. icon_evil.gif For that price, I could get a whole replacement engine (with nozzles). }

Hi from...

'You've been completely ripped off! I did a similar trade last year in December, and I paid around 380 euros for the set from Bosch.'
I need to check; maybe I can still find the Bosch part numbers!

@Jano03:

What is the current mileage of the nozzles?
"This would be very interesting for me, as I have also detected a significantly altered exhaust smell and knocking on one cylinder in my car (mileage approximately 142,000 km)."

Regards,
Alex.

@joergs
The Bosch employee spent some time typing on their computer and then gave me the answer above. I think they looked up the information on the Bosch website, and indeed, there are no replacement nozzles listed there. However, you can find them for almost no engines on that website.
He then mentioned something about being able to overhaul some models yourself, saying that the three without fuel injection control could be easily overhauled, but those with it couldn't. I thought they came as a single unit, and there was no way to simply take them apart and overhaul them (which, according to him, would only take about 5 minutes).

It has 128,000 km on it. I just installed this engine into my G3. It apparently sat for about two years previously (it was a salvage vehicle). Maybe that's not the best thing for the injectors.
Since this is my first TDI, I thought the smell and knocking were normal, but when you look around here in the forum, it doesn't seem to be the case. icon_sad.gif

He then mentioned that it was possible to rebuild certain components, specifically the three injectors, without the nozzle needle valve, but not those with it. I thought they came as a single unit, and I assumed it wouldn't be easy to disassemble and rebuild them (he made it sound like it would only take 5 minutes).
(

Okay, I'd rather not attempt to rebuild those injectors myself. It's not that simple! You have to disassemble them and potentially adjust the opening pressure. It's not feasible with the equipment we have. Bosch professionally reconditions those injector assemblies on a large scale, and that's the proper way to do it.

Okay, now let's talk about the preserved goods. I also found the invoice!

nhg: 0986430236
Standard nozzles: 0986430238

The NHG (likely referring to a specific product or service) cost 145 plus a 'fairy tale tax' back then.
standard nozzles, plus the '77+ fairy tale tax'.
But I think you should definitely be able to negotiate a discount of 10-15%!

I hope this helps you.

That will definitely help me! That way, the person at Bosch can also find it. Thank you VERY MUCH for checking again! icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif

Yes, I personally didn't want to attempt to rebuild any injectors. The man at Bosch mentioned that only the three injectors without the needle valve could be rebuilt. Also, the spray pressure could only be tested on those three injectors without the valve. However, the injector with the needle position sensor is identical to the other three, except that it is slightly longer icon_rolleyes.gif.

Best regards,
Jan.

hi,

I'm experiencing a similar issue: my engine has been running quite loudly lately and is producing a lot of black smoke under full load. Since all the other components seem to be in order, I was thinking of tackling the injectors.
I can now get ALH injectors and I wanted to know if they will fit on my 1Z engine without any modifications. Unfortunately, this question hasn't been answered here yet...

best regards, micha
