Golf II TD transmission

Hello...

I have a quick question.
Unfortunately, the gearbox from my Golf II TD with engine code SB has now failed. I'm now looking for a new (used) gearbox for the car as quickly as possible.

Gearbox code: 4T

Now, regarding the question:
In various advertisements, whether in newspapers or on platforms like eBay, the 4-speed transmission is sometimes offered for sale for gasoline and/or diesel engines.

Now, I wanted to know if there's a specific difference, or if the gearbox really fits both gasoline and (turbo) diesel engines.

When I was still driving a Golf 3 TDI, there was a good link to golf3td.tk .
They also have a parts exchange there, maybe it will help!
Good luck. I had the same problem back then, and the transmission blew. I ended up finding a used one at the junkyard down the street.

The 4T was standardly installed in both diesel and gasoline engines and is easily interchangeable. For diesel engines with increased power, the trend is now towards TDi transmissions [url] that have a sensible gear ratio and won't break down immediately due to the 220 Nm of torque. "Everything is possible using parts from the VW parts shelf, but it's a bit more work than simply installing a different 4-stroke engine."

I browsed through your tuner page yesterday all day. It's interesting to see what you can do with an SB . But whether it's worth it is another matter; everything is still original. I was at VW yesterday to ask about a replacement 4T transmission, and they quoted me a price of just €1705.20. I almost fell , but such a price was to be expected.

I'm going to visit the scrap metal dealer nearby today. They still have overpriced items, but they're still cheaper than the other 7 car recyclers in the area. Thank you for the information.
