Hello,

Not much has come out of the investigation so far. The only thing I know is that the maximum recommended pressure is 5 bar, and mine is at 10 bar. I'm not sure yet whether the best course of action is to convert it to the 132kW version or just replace it, as I haven't received any information about what's needed for the conversion or whether any modifications are required. I also don't know if the 10 bar pressure is already causing the oil leak, or if there are other reasons for it.

Question for the experts.

If I understand correctly, replacing the oil mist separator reduced the overpressure from 270 mBar to 5 mBar (now back to 10).
The oil mist separator is the component that removes oil mist from the air that flows from the crankcase, through the PCV system, into the intake manifold, right?
Assuming the compression is good, does the overpressure then originate from air being drawn in through the crankcase ventilation system and exiting through the filler neck? And does a functioning oil mist separator normally prevent this?

Therefore, in a pressure measurement or paper sheet test, one might incorrectly conclude that there is poor compression, even though it is actually due to the ÖNA.

Similarly, any pressure buildup caused by compression loss passing through the piston rings should also be able to dissipate through the KGE (keyword extraction engine), which would then indicate lower pressure or smoother paper output, suggesting good compression, or am I misunderstanding something?

Hello Roland,

You probably misunderstood something...
In my case, the pressure was NEVER at 270 mbar! I had it measured at 10 mbar last week. This was due to oil leaks at various seals (valve cover gasket, injector seal in the valve cover, and cover of the oil filter module). As far as I can tell now, Audi did not warm up the engine icon_sad.gif. The question now is, whether the value will increase or decrease when the engine is properly warmed up (oil at 80°)?

Given the relatively high oil loss, I assumed the pressure was actually much higher than 10 mbar. My problem now is whether this loss could already occur with such a slightly higher overpressure, and if so, what is the most sensible thing to do to make it leak-proof again? Should I replace the oil separator and reinstall the one of the 'older' design, or should I convert it to the 132 kW version? If I were to convert to the 132 kW version, what parts would be needed (perhaps with part numbers)?

Hello,

My car is also currently in the workshop due to a clogged crankcase ventilation system. The problem is actually quite easy to diagnose yourself: If you open the oil filler cap immediately after turning off the engine and you hear a hissing sound, then everything is clear. However, I don't know if 10 mbar is already enough to cause a hiss. In my experience, the increased oil consumption only occurs when there is a hissing sound. Then the car starts to smoke noticeably.
The expert mentioned that another possible cause for increased oil consumption could be that a valve (on the oil filter or oil filter housing, or something like that...) might be malfunctioning.
If the car is already leaking, then a sealing attempt is probably necessary. However, in my case (which was 2 years ago), the success was only short-lived. In my case, it's not so bad yet that oil stains are forming.

Does anyone know of an automatic gearbox that lasts longer than 120,000 km?
