Hello fellow DIY enthusiasts,
It's probably not that important, but how do I activate the seatbelt warning system in my Audi A4 B5 (MY 2000)? Is this function purely software-based, or are any wires needed to be connected?

This is a coding within an adaptation channel in the instrument cluster – I don't have the specific details at hand, but you should be able to find them here or in related forums. Additionally, you will need a seatbelt buckle with a signaling contact that needs to be connected to the instrument cluster.

Hi Marco, this might be from a 1998 Passat 2B, but it should also apply to Audis.
GONG
xx3xx Gong (Works for me with a 24-hour display and kilometer display), it's possible that your instrument cluster might switch to 12-hour mode (99 Mj).
Seatbelt reminder:
x0xxx, everything disabled.
Brake pad wear indicator activated!
Seatbelt warning light activated!
x3xxx Brake pad wear indicator and...
Seatbelt warning light activated!
"x4xxx washing machine water level sensor activated!"
x5xxx Brake pad wear indicator and...
Washing water level light activated!
x6xxx Seatbelt warning light and...
Washing water level light activated!
x7xxx All three warning lights are activated!!!
Just change the second number and try it out!!!
If you want to hear the gong:
Activate the seatbelt indicator light and...
to pin 31 (the blue connector on the instrument cluster).
Apply a ground signal (0V).
Dann hörst du ein 4-fach Gong nach einschalten der Zündung !!! DHey, what's up?
Please fasten your seatbelts! The seatbelt contact.
is a lifesaver - are you buckled up?
No signal to the combined unit!!!
