Hello everyone,
Since I sold my old TDI with 81 kW, I would like to buy a new one.
The question is only whether I should get an 81 or 96KW Ibiza Sport (6-speed).
I had the 81 kW engine chipped to 100 kW, and it ran great.
I wanted to ask if you've experienced more frequent problems with the 96kW engine, and whether it's worth getting it chipped.
Thank you.
Regards,
Snowfun.

The 130 hp TDI is a very solid engine that already has 150 hp as standard. It shouldn't be difficult to chip this engine, but extreme caution is advised after the procedure, as the engine becomes very sensitive after the intervention in the engine electronics. Due to the increased fuel injection and increased boost pressure, extreme caution is necessary, especially when the car is cold. Before the engine reaches a water temperature of 90 degrees Celsius, you should not rev it above 2000 rpm. Furthermore, continuous full throttle on the highway is not recommended. In addition, there is a significantly higher fuel consumption during full load operation. However, the significant increase in Nm (Newton-meters) is very cool, especially for overtaking.

And what happens otherwise?
How do you gain such extensive experience with the 130PS PD-TDI engine?
Best regards, Rainer.

hello
'In the old forum, someone had meticulously detailed the differences between the 81 kW and 96 kW engines (even listing the different material qualities of the engine blocks). Unfortunately, I can't open the 'forumalt.zip' file; it only downloads as 36 KB. Does anyone still have that post?'
By the way, the PD software has three torque maps. 'Knowledgeable tuners' only adjust the fuel injection values for one of these maps, which means that the values remain at the standard settings during the warm-up phase.
'Unfortunately, motorcycle riders don't have this level of comfort. Instead, the values of all three characteristics are simply increased across the board. However, you still have the accelerator pedal to control things.'

I've had such experiences because I have a friend who had his 130 HP engine chipped to 160 HP. However, he often drove the car in a cold state with full throttle and revved it past 2000 RPM (while the turbo was engaging, around 1800-2000 RPM). The consequence was an extremely high oil consumption, which was traced back to a leaky cylinder head gasket. Consequently, it had to be replaced. Everyone can imagine how much that costs. Therefore, precautions (like carefully warming up the car) should be taken.
