Hello,
After installing different injectors and a turbocharger, I went to a tuner to schedule an appointment for a tuning session.
He asked me what kind of performance I had expected.
I replied: 'It should definitely be around 160 horsepower / 340 Nm.'
The tuner mentioned that he had previously worked on an AFN with similar performance, and in that case, the connecting rods had failed.
Furthermore, performance exceeding 300 Nm would be almost undrivable.
I would still be covered by the warranty up to 140 horsepower, but not beyond that.
That worries me a little.
What is the load capacity of the AFN connecting rods?
What services do you offer?
Regards,
DJ.

I was told that the engine block is stable up to around 200 horsepower.
Torque is slightly over 400 Nm.
I know people who drive cars with similar performance, and they haven't experienced any problems with the engine.
It's likely that if the injectors are not working properly, it could cause a hole to burn through the piston. Alternatively, the cylinder head could develop severe cracks.
Meiner läuft bisher auch tadellos. With a minimum of 180 horsepower.
It's clear that the tuner won't offer a warranty in this situation. B.Eng (FH) u. KFZ Meister

Hi,
Up to 200 hp / 400 Nm?
I can't imagine that - that's 90 horsepower more and almost double the Nm of torque compared to the standard version!
The gearbox is still there, you know.

DJ.

What do you understand by 'standfastness'? The question is not so much about how much it can withstand, but rather how long it can withstand that amount.
It's clear that increasing performance beyond the safety tolerances is definitely harmful to the engine. However, the person who installed such a modification probably wouldn't have reached the 200,000 km (approximately 124,000 miles) mark anyway.
Regarding your question, I'd estimate that your engine block alone could probably handle around 160 horsepower without significant issues. However, I can't tell you how the rest of the drivetrain will hold up. In any case, be prepared for a potentially short lifespan for the car.

Sure, it might be true that it won't last for 200,000 km, but maybe it will.
Because you are forgetting one thing.
The full performance is only achieved when you use full throttle, and the increase in power is actually well below the estimated 5%. For the remaining 95% of the time, you're essentially not pushing the engine much beyond its stock level.
Therefore, there is also less wear and tear.
"Incidentally, pump-nozzle engines are also often tuned to produce up to 400 Nm of torque, and the engine block used in pump-nozzle engines is not made of materials from Mars."
I can let you know if he's entered the hunting grounds, if I ever witness that. B.Eng (FH) u. KFZ Meister

248,000 km and it's still running!
According to the ULF test, my car is producing approximately 152 horsepower.
I would like to run a time of under 5 seconds sometime!

Manuel.

Congrats, you seem to have a good handle on your accelerator pedal, which is something that can't be said of everyone who tries to squeeze 50% more power out of their engine .

Hi,
'I agree!' or 'Yeah, I think so too!'
248,000 km is quite a lot!
Respect!

DJ.

The engine operates at speeds above 3,500 RPM for 85% of its running time!
It's just a TDI engine for a highway car: barely warm, and you can already step on the gas!
I usually drive around 180 km/h. It's the best compromise between fuel consumption and time saved!
And if it ever happens, because someone thinks that a 100 horsepower TDI representative Passat only needs a 1.5-meter safety distance, it will also accelerate quickly and smoothly up to 220 km/h without hesitation!
Regards,
Manuel.
