Hello everyone (guys and girls),
I'm new to this forum and I already have a problem!
I have an Audi A6 2.5 TDI (AKN) from 1999 that is suffering from a lack of power. The error memory indicates a problem with the injector control valve. I intended to remove and possibly replace it a few days ago. However, when removing the valve cover, I discovered that my camshafts are severely worn (mileage approximately 150,000 km). This is not normal. I heard from a friend that this is a known problem with Audi, and that the dealers are aware of it. I'm going to visit a dealer today to see what the warranty situation is. The vehicle has a complete and documented service history. What do you think, is there a chance I can get anything covered under warranty?
If not, where can I find camshafts cheaper than at VAG? A camshaft costs about 180 euros there. Multiply that by four, and then add the lifters, and it's going to be an expensive undertaking.
Does anyone have any tips for me?
Regards,
Al.

'Audi will likely dismiss you if you have over 100,000 km on your car, unless you have a good dealership. Worn-out turbochargers are not uncommon in the 2.5-liter engine, and this has been reported here before.'

...then at least buy the right ones, because there's a set of camshafts that are hardened using a different process.
I think people will figure that out when they go to your store...

Knubbi.
P.S.: By the way, there are countless reasons for performance issues with a V6 TDI engine. I know all about it.

Audi typically offers goodwill coverage up to 150,000 km and 4 years.
Four new camshafts, 24 tappets, and rocker arms (it's best to replace both), cost approximately 1600 euros including labor at the dealership.
 Stefan.
P.S.: I know this because I had all of that replaced just a few thousand kilometers ago.

Hello.
I once had a silly question . All that metal wear can't be good for the rest of the engine, especially if you have a long-life oil.
Or is it not that bad after all?
Greetings, Rainer.

Is it now common practice at Audi to inspect the camshafts on V6 TDI engines, especially considering it's a known issue?
Which models are affected by this issue?
Best regards,
