**Problem:** The ESP (Electronic Stability Program) system in a VW Golf 4 is malfunctioning.
**Symptoms:**
* The ESP warning light is illuminated on the dashboard.
* The ESP system is interfering with the vehicle's normal operation.
* The vehicle may exhibit unusual handling characteristics, such as oversteering or understeering.
**Possible Causes:**
* Faulty ESP sensor
* Damaged or worn ESP control module
* Wiring problems
* Faulty ABS sensor
* Faulty wheel speed sensors
**Troubleshooting Steps:**
1. Check the ESP warning light to see if it is illuminated.
2. Inspect the ESP sensor and control module for any signs of damage or wear.
3. Check the wiring for any loose connections or damage.
4. Check the ABS sensor and wheel speed sensors for any signs of damage or wear.
5. If the problem persists, consult a qualified mechanic. |

On my VW Golf 4, 1.9TDI 85KW, built in 2/2000, the ESP light is constantly on. The diagnostic revealed the error '01423 Sensor for lateral acceleration G200 error in electrical circuit 57-00'. According to VW, the lateral acceleration sensor on the steering column should be replaced. This part is only available with the yaw rate sensor and costs around 500€ together. I have read in online forums that these sensors were also available separately up to 2002 (lateral acceleration sensor 130€). However, my VW dealer is not aware of this. Does anyone have a VW spare part number only for the lateral acceleration sensor? These parts are also fine if they are discontinued. I can't find any statements here. Thank you

[Translating...]Hallo , hab mich mal schlau gemacht.

My sensor is also defective. (Bora, Bj. 2000)
exact the same error message.
How did you fix it? Was it a wobbly part, or did you replace the sensor?

The sensor is located under the steering column.
I've had to replace it now, and it's costing me over 400€ for this thing.

My son should also be there.
Same appearance as the author of the post...
But I read somewhere else that an additional connector is detached from the battery, and that is
can also trigger this fault even with a loose fit.
Can occur after a hectic inspection...
To get a more accurate diagnosis, I need to go back to the workshop.
If the sensor needs to be replaced, I will examine the old claw.
and (in my capacity as an electrician), check what causes it to fail.
I'll be back here later.
(I wish I could have a car as reliable as my old Golf II TD again, you know)
PS.:
To remove the sensor myself, I unfortunately had too much fear of the airbag.
...and that he might not be protecting my wife anymore...
