Hello.
I changed the timing belt on a Passat 1.9PD AVB.
The camshaft was lagging behind the crankshaft, just as described here.
I adjusted the timing belt as it should normally be adjusted (disconnected the camshaft sensor with a drill, and aligned the crankshaft precisely to the top dead center position).
It performs significantly better in the higher RPM range, but fuel consumption has increased by approximately 0.75 liters per 100 kilometers.
"Has anyone else here ever tried something similar during a PD (professional development) session?"
