Good evening, everyone!
I heard yesterday that the lambda sensor (like the one on my AJM engine) from an ARL engine is compatible and 'supposedly adds 10-15 horsepower in general.'
Okay, based on my log tests, the smoke limit seems to be lowest only up to 1800, but still:
Can these parts actually fit (diameter of the intake manifold, connector, and connector pin configuration)?
If possible: Has anyone tried it, and is the characteristic really suitable for the AJM engine, or does it just make the turbo lag more expensive?
best regards
herwig

In my humble opinion, this doesn't achieve anything at all. It certainly won't provide a performance increase of 10% or more. Why would it? If that were the case, a closed EGR system should also deliver significant performance gains.

Hello,
'How on earth can that possibly add 10 to 15 horsepower? In my opinion, it's complete nonsense. Who is spreading such information? Regardless, the engine control unit (ECU) will only accept limited mass airflow (MAF) values.'

Okay, I'd just estimate that the AJM and the ARL have the same LMM.
And then, the extra performance is more than just superstition.
And speaking seriously now:
How is that supposed to work: If the mass airflow sensor (MAF) is functioning correctly, it shouldn't be responsible for the engine's performance at all – how can it possibly increase it?
Therefore, NONSENSE - incorrectly placed[/size] .
m;
Edit: The LMMs (likely referring to mass flow meters) don't have the same part numbers, but this could simply be due to the pipes they are installed in. Transparency, Teamwork
... there was another T.
I don't know what the f*ck it was.

Thank you, Martin, Mathias, and Marco!
'According to a rumor I heard from a VW master technician (although I didn't hear it myself, but was told about it), and based on everything I've learned in this excellent forum so far, I would have considered it a myth. However, I just wanted to be sure.'
I'm planning to have the timing belt adjusted at my next mechanic appointment because the current timing is too late (unfortunately, the crankshaft pulley is already at the earliest position within its adjustment range - so the timing needs to be adjusted one tooth further, which I don't want to attempt myself). I'm also hoping to have the opportunity to test a different mass airflow sensor (MAF sensor) from an ARL engine at the same time. I might try it and create logs to disprove the common belief about it.
best regards

It's well-known that sometimes VW doesn't know what they're doing. However, anyone promising increased performance through a Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor replacement would have voided my warranty. Instead, I consulted Ulf's technical article and did it myself. It's very well explained, and that way you know exactly what you're getting.

No, no, the person who claimed that won't be able to get their hands on the Bora; I phrased that poorly.

It's the same for me, even though the settings aren't (completely) maxed out yet.
If you can observe how the problem is being solved, please write it down.
I would also try it - provided that you don't have to remove the engine mount in front of the tensioner . Gruß Ulf
