Hello,

I have a Skoda Octavia 81kW 110hp (Engine Code: ASV 071 438).
The engine has so far run approximately 86,000 km, of which around 80,000 km have been with engine control unit (ECU) tuning. Until a few months ago, there were no signs of the tuning, so no smoke was visible. Two months ago, the O2 sensor on this machine broke. Because the car wasn't consuming excessive amounts of fuel and had no 'side effects' besides the loss of power, I drove approximately 4,000 km further (on vacation and business trips) to have the O2 sensor repaired in Hamburg at my regular workshop under the extended warranty (I was in Belgium at the time).

Since the replacement of the LMM (not before), the engine produces strong smoke clouds when accelerating, especially when downshifting and accelerating. No unusual 'clouds' are visible during starting, etc. Under increased load (e.g., towing a trailer of about 1.5 tons), a small, continuous 'smoke trail' is visible. The driving behavior remains excellent, and the fuel consumption is low. The oil consumption is approximately 0.5 liters per 3,000 kilometers, which is also acceptable.
Regarding the current medical examination, I unfortunately failed due to the particulate emissions during gas passage... icon_cry.gif

Can it be that my engine oil (Longlive) has become too old (too thin) after 8 months and 26,000 km? (Tip from the Dekra inspector)
Can the installation of the LMM, for example, damage a suction hose or other part without the computer registering an error?
...
My workshop now says: No fault search under warranty if tuning is performed. icon_mad.gif
What else could it be?

Lost Greetings from a Newcomer!

Jan

Post04-11-2004, 10:54    Subject: Black smoke from TDI 81kw Translating...

Habe leider kein zweites Steuergerät so herumliegen...

Jan

The oil consumption is approximately 0.5 liters per 3,000 kilometers, which is also acceptable.

Well... it's 4 times as much as my ALH needs.

Can it be that my engine oil (Longlive) has become too old (too thin) after 8 months and 26,000 km? (Tip from the Dekra inspector)

the previous oil analyses have actually shown that the oil becomes thicker with increasing mileage due to the Russian load...

Can the installation of the LMM, for example, damage a suction hose or other part without the computer registering an error?

yes, that is certainly possible.
'Take a look at the vacuum hoses and the whole mess around them.'
Possibly, the AGR operation is difficult or a hose is ruptured.
who knows where the Klingons have been causing trouble...

See you, Gremlin
