Hello,

I'm new here and have a question about chip tuning for a 90 HP TDI Golf 4, manufactured in 02/2000, with engine code ALH.
Is it worth getting this engine chipped? Or does it significantly increase wear and tear on the machine?
My car now has 59,000 km on the odometer. It consumes very little oil, and I don't need to top it up within the 15,000 km oil change interval.

Has anyone installed a chip in this engine? How much power does it add? And what about repairs and durability?

Thank you for your reply. Best regards, Benny.

Hello!

It definitely makes sense to get your car chipped. I've been driving cars with 'optimized' software for a long time. I can only recommend it. It's really fun, so go ahead and get the chip!

But would a 'real' chip be preferable to the PowerBoxes?
So, make sure you choose a reputable tuner. The one that promises the most power might not necessarily be the best. Also, consider factors like TÜV certification (German technical inspection), and warranty.

For more detailed questions, please ask.

P.S.
If you have questions about chip boxes, there is a detailed explanation of them on this website, so please read it there and don't post your questions here. (Otherwise, there will be another huge uproar, as we are all very emotionally attached to our own preferences!)

Hello!

I almost forgot about your other questions.

Wear and tear shouldn't be a problem unless you get a 'powermax' version. I'd say somewhere between 115-120 horsepower is achievable. Otherwise, you might encounter problems with the clutch and drivetrain.
If you also change the oil regularly, you're on the right track.

The top speed increases only slightly with the TDI engine, but you gain significantly more power at lower RPMs.

have fun and

I wanted to have the TDI engine chipped by Digi-Tec, with a warranty and dyno testing. So, the full package.

>If you also change the oil regularly, you're on the right track.

Yes, the vehicle has been regularly serviced according to the manufacturer's schedule by a reliable Volkswagen service center.
The oil used from the beginning is a 10W40 lightweight oil. I think it can be maintained at that level.

Sounds good icon_smile.gif

My TDI already runs surprisingly well, but it still has the standard chip. I'm almost as fast in terms of acceleration as the larger 110 hp TDI... which is strange, but it's true. Let's see what kind of results we get with a different chip on the dyno.

What is recommended: to conduct a pre- and post-test role-play, or just a post-test?

Best regards and thanks in advance, Benny.
