Hello everyone,

I'm back... and I've only skimmed through tons of posts... you guys were really busy!

"My TDI is like that now too... it was allowed to tow a 600 kg caravan (as Bertil said, a cute little one, or something similar) along the country roads to the Baltic Sea."

The consumption figures were quite accurate - it ended up being 7.8 liters, and that was on country roads with many small towns, hills, and, not least, longer stretches with headwinds.

The only thing that was noticeable was that the noise (a clicking sound, probably vibrations in the exhaust area) that I described some time ago was, of course, more noticeable at higher loads, especially when going uphill, but that apparently wasn't critical according to the discussion we had back then (that noise). Otherwise, no hill was too steep to reach 80 in 5th gear icon_wink.gif.

And... while driving around Rügen, it became really clear again how good it is for those who don't live in a big city. Despite not exactly driving economically (without a trailer), I used much less fuel on the beautiful roads of Rügen than I do in the city, even when driving consciously to save fuel. Of course, that's logical, but still...

Best regards,

Jan.

My experiences with camper trailers:

I have a icon_biggrin.gif Sprinter van with a gross vehicle weight of 1200 kg, and a Passat with the original 90 horsepower and a tuning box (approximately +25 horsepower). I've actually driven quite a bit on the highway. The fuel consumption is about 8.5 liters on average at speeds of 90-100 km/h. I can also confirm that there's no hill too steep! }

Hey Jan,

I'm still on the road. I won't be back until Sunday, but the Authal box makes it even more fun to see the surprised faces of people when you effortlessly climb any hill with a G3 "Pampersbomber" and a trailer attached. However, the fuel consumption has increased significantly with the box (I'll have more details on Sunday...).

I'm glad you've already had some experiences.

Hi everyone,

I spent 2 weeks in Denmark, but without a caravan. The car (a G4 TDI ALH with 66kW) was completely full of luggage and a bicycle rack.
Fuel consumption (average): 5.2 liters per 100 kilometers.
In Denmark, I managed to drive the 100 km distance from Legoland (Billund) to Rømø (island north of Sylt) with an empty vehicle (maximum tire pressure and 2 people) using 3.8 liters (according to the MFA). And that was with the lights on and using biodiesel icon_smile.gif.

Regards,

Eike.
