Hello everyone,
Maybe someone can help me.
My Audi is constantly displaying the error message 'CD cannot be read' or 'CD is defective.'
Replacing the CD did not solve the problem.
What's curious about the whole thing is that after about an hour, the navigation system started malfunctioning.
The repair shop is trying to convince me to buy a new device.
Is it possible to get Navis repaired somewhere? Have you encountered this type of issue before?

Hello,
I would like to try transferring the navigation CD data to storage media with different base materials. Perhaps one will work better than the others. Also, the power supply to the navigation system should be 100% stable and without any fluctuations.
If that doesn't help, you'll likely only have the option of replacing it, just like with other defective CD-ROM drives.
You can check the error codes, but I don't have much hope of finding anything helpful related to this problem.
Best regards, Rainer.

HI,
With various "broken" computer hard drives, I've had good success by cleaning the lens and lubricating the drive components and head carriage mechanism (in a way that the lens isn't damaged). Both my SCSI burner and my SCSI CD-ROM drive have been working perfectly again since I did that.
Carefully open it. Using a fine brush and a lint-free cloth, gently clean the lens (being careful not to damage the lens adjustment mechanism), and then see if everything moves freely. In one other drive, the grease on the head carriage had become hardened...
Um... if you're operating it, don't look directly at the laser.

Hey guys,
I had the same problem with the VW navigation system. It started by only occasionally reading burned CDs, then it progressed to not reading original CDs either, and eventually, it wouldn't read anything at all. According to VW, the laser was no longer properly aligned and, *what a surprise*, it could only be replaced.
Best regards,

Hi,
Have you tried self-repairing according to the described scheme?

I once tried using a cleaning CD, but it didn't work, so I had it replaced (while it was still under warranty).
