Oil separator for VW Golf IV

Ich habe in der Luftstrecke vom Turbo zum LLK eine Art Ölabscheider gefunden. Es ist ein Plastikgehäuse das am Radhaus unten (in der Nähe der Kurbelwellen Riemenscheibe) befestigt ist. Ich habe das Teil ausgebaut und eine recht erhebliche Menge Öl gefunden. Ich habe das teil ausgekippt, dabei kam eine Menge von 0,25 L zusammen. Das Fahrzeug hat 86TKM gelaufen. Ich habe eine Menge über das Thema Öl in den Schläuchen vom Turbo zum LLK gefunden und das dort ein gewisser Ölanteil durchaus normal ist, jedoch keiner hat über diesen Ölabscheider oder Sammelbehälter geschrieben. Ich habe auch nichts in meinen Reparaturbüchern gefunden. Das Teil wir nirgends erwähnt. Weiß "Someone who knows what this part is for (it's actually an oil separator) and what the typical oil volumes are."The oil levels are low. The hoses after the lubrication system are relatively dry (only a very thin film of oil is present).
The question is whether to leave the oil in (it looked worse than the engine oil) or to verschandeln it out, for example, during an oil change interval.

When I was replacing the side panels on my lower engine cover...
I had to disconnect the hose from the coolant system. There's quite a bit of oil there.
It came out, but not even a quarter of a liter (at approximately 50,000 km). The "oil separator".
It's my primary care physician.

I can only take a picture of it tonight. Since I don't have a website, I can only send you the picture by email. Do all of your turbocharger exhaust hoses go directly into the intercooler? The thing I'm referring to can be seen in the wheel well (it's not inside the engine fairing). It's made of plastic, relatively flat but tall. Inside, there is a direct passage for air, but also a mesh filter that is located on the side (in the direction of travel), not directly in the airflow.
I can't imagine that only my car would have this problem.

In the picture, you can now see the part in question. As I mentioned, one side connects to the turbocharger, and the other side is connected to the intercooler. Hopefully, someone can make sense of it now. I also couldn't find it in the spare parts catalog.

This isn't an oil separator; it's a very simple muffler designed to prevent resonant noises.

But in the future, we could drain the oil there!

Well, with all that oil inside, it reminds me more of an oil bath air filter from a VW Beetle than a muffler. And I find it quite strange that no one has found this thing in the airflow path leading to the intercooler.
The oil is likely coming from the turbocharger. Based on the amount of oil, I suspect it's not functioning perfectly anymore. According to opinions in this forum, about 1-2 tablespoons of oil are more typical. I'll ask at the workshop if they want to sell me a replacement. Otherwise, my car's oil consumption is within a normal range (about 1.2 liters per 15,000 km). It's a shame that parts on TDI engines fail so quickly; in my Golf II TD, the original turbocharger was still working at 408,000 km.

It's more likely coming from the crankcase ventilation system. Don't worry unnecessarily. Just keep driving. You should only be concerned if it's consuming 1 liter per 1000 kilometers!

I completely agree with what Manuel said.

I installed an oil separator in the KWG ventilation system. A significant amount of oil accumulates in it, I estimate about 100-150ml every 10,000 km, and then there's also the oil that is inevitably lost to the turbocharger for lubrication. That probably explains what you're seeing. I'm sure I have the exact same part as the one in your photo, but it definitely serves primarily for flow and acoustic reasons.I've never had to disassemble this before. There's no reason to. What I occasionally do is disconnect the breather hose from the intake manifold and take a look inside. It only tends to be really dry after long highway drives. If I drive just 1000 km around town, there's already a noticeable oil film present, even with an oil separator filter.
So don't worry about it.
Why do you want to go to VW and buy a new turbocharger, or am I misunderstanding something?

As I said, I looked around in the forum and only found information about small amounts of oil, which are supposed to be normal.
I bought the car from a private seller, but I took out my own used car warranty. In case of a defect, it currently covers 60% of the material costs and labor charges.
That's why I preferred to ask the question here before scaring the horses.
But if nothing is broken, then there's no need to replace anything.
